Feronia Wellness Organization is a grassroots, non-profit group providing resources & education to promote well-being in body, emotions, mind, spirit & environment. We unite wellness providers of all backgrounds under one umbrella to create affordable & enjoyable ways to explore holistic health. We organize events online & in-person, host classes & services and offer collective retail space online & inperson. Our mission is to help empower people through educating them on the tools & resources that are available to them.

Feronia Wellness Retreat is the dream of our founder & president, Deborah Lighthart. It has been her lifetime goal to create an alternative health center. It took many years of research & planning to design this unique vision. Her life has been about forging her own path to health, happiness & wholeness and her desire in creating this space is to help you forge your own as well. Deborah believes that
After initially conceiving what she felt to be her life mission in opening a center, Deborah's dream laid dormant for almost 10 years. One day she stepped onto a vacant lot beside a home she was looking to purchase & she felt a rush of energy & inspiration pouring through her. Her health center dream suddenly surfaced and she knew that she it was time to begin planning. After talking with the real estate agent, she discovered that the property was located on a road reputed to have been part of the Underground Railroad. The name "Feronia" means "Goddess of Freedom." Slaves believed that sitting on a holy stone in one of her sanctuaries would set them free. Feronia was a rural goddess in Roman religion, to whom woods and springs were sacred. Latins believed Feronia to be a harvest goddess and honored her with the "first fruits" in order to secure a bountiful harvest the following year. Feronia also served as a goddess of travelers, fire and waters. Though the land did not end up being the the home of FWO, the name carried on.

The idea of Feronia Wellness Organization & it's programs grew very quickly as Deborah began to see the need for healing in every community & a beautiful opportunity to unify all providers for a common good. Her vision grew from an individual retreat center to a variety of projects & plans to help the seeds of wellness grow.
